MARITIME SAR REGION

The area in which the U.S. Coast Guard exercises the SAR coordinating function. It includes the territories and possessions of the U.S. (except the Canal Zone and the inland region of Alaska) and areas of the high seas designated in the National SAR Plan. The USCG has divided the Maritime Region into sub-regions and a rescue coordination center in each sub-region exercises coordination responsabilities.
