CUMULUS
A collective term for clouds having a lumpy or billowy appearance, cumulus means, literally, an accumulation or heap. The pure cumulus clouds ("fair-weather cu") are characterized by sharply defined edges, bases all at the same level and generally flat bottoms. The height of these bases indicate the condensation level (saturation point) of the moist, unstable air from which they form.
