ALTOSTRATUS

A midle cloud formation often associated with altocumulus clouds. It has a fibrous gray or bluish veil-like appearance and often allows the sun to be dimly visible. Light, continuous precipitation often falls from these clouds. A mixture of ice crystals and supercooled water droplets makes it a potential icing producer.
